Since several publishers have been kind enough to provide me with review copies, it seems selfish to keep ALL of them, so it seemed a good time to have a contest.
In fact, it’s a multi-part contest! You’ve got more than one way to win!
Here’s what you have to do. Either…
1. Link to Knitting Scholar on your blog or website. That gets the blog-owner’s name entered in the drawing. (Note–the blog-owner must leave a comment here with a link to her blog post to be eligible. Otherwise, how would I know?)
2. Leave a comment ON THIS POST. (Preferably telling me something nice, like why you like the site, but really, compliments are optional.) This gets you entered in the drawing.
But, wait! There’s more!
3. When you leave your comment, tell me how you found your way here. If you came via a link from someone’s blog, you not only get entered yourself, but the blog who sent you here gets an extra chance to win!
In other words, if, um, Sally links here and mentions the contest–she gets one chance. If five people come here from her blog and leave comments referring to Sally’s blog, not only do they each get one chance to win, but they each give Sally another chance … meaning Sally will now have SIX chances to win.
So, if you have a blog, it behooves you to send as many people over here as you possibly can. And if you found your way here from someone’s blog, it’s a Nice Thing to Do, to tell me how you got here.
And–still more!
4. If you came via RSS feed OR you subscribe to Knitting Scholar’s RSS feed now, say so, and you get Two chances instead of just one! (Those are those “Subscribe” buttons at the top right. You’re on the honor system, here, but I do know what my subscriber numbers look like right now, so I’ve got an idea how many people subscribe already–so, no fibbing!)
5. If you came from another blog and then write your own post linking here–be sure to specify in your comment the name of the blogger who referred you in the first place AND a link to your own blog. (This gives you the chance to get extra chances for yourself, but still Do the Right Thing by making sure the person whose blog you heard about this from gets her extra chance, too.)
So. The technical, small-print stuff.
You must leave comments ON THIS POST to be eligible for the prize drawing. Comments left on any other post will not qualify.
There will be at least two winners (possibly more), who will be selected via some sort of Random-Number Generator.
The contest is open for entrants until … November 15th, 2008. That should give everyone plenty of time to write a post and to give readers a chance to respond. Obviously, I want to give as much chance for the word to spread as possible!
Did I miss anything?
Now, while you’re here–please take a look around!
NOTE: November 16–comments have been closed, and now I have to do all the math to figure out the winners!
Comments on this entry are closed.
I honestly can’t remember which blog pointed me to your site a while ago, but I have been reading it ever since (and subscribe to the feed!). I love the in-depth reviews you give of books and they have often prompted me to give a book a second look after passing over it the first time around. Thanks for all your thorough work!
Clumsy Knitter´s last blog post..I Have Become a Knitting Pimp
I can’t remember how I found you but I subscribe to the feed and have a link on my blog. I enjoy your reviews.

I found you on Ravelry. Interesting contest. Off to link this on my blog. :)
knittinfiasco´s last blog post..Border is made of win!
I saw your post on Ravelry. Interesting web site. I wish I’d had a chance to read reviews on some of the poorer choices I’ve made ordering books online.
Saw your post on Ravelry – Will look at the rest of your blog – the title sounds interesting – But you didn’t tell us what books we might win – Knitting librarian wants to know! Thanks
What a clever way to boost readership. I don’t have a blog, unfortunately. For what it’s worth, I found you on Ravelry.
I found out about your site from Ravelry. Oh! I also subscribe to your RSS feed.
I found you on Ravelry. I like your site! I think it will really help me know which books I simply MUST have…or not. :)
I found you on Ravelry. I read some of your reviews. Wow! Just fantastic. A fine collections of book reviews.
Patricia´s last blog post..Free Yarn
I saw your post on the knitting book talk forum on Etsy. I’ve been clicking through to read your reviews, but the contest inspired me to do something I should have done before- subscribe :)
I’ve found the reviews to be wonderful- keep up the good work!
I found you on Ravelry! Looking forward to poking around the blog…
larndt on Ravelry.
Hi I found you through Ravelry!
Just got here from Ravelry. Thanks for offering to share your bounty o’ books!
I think maybe you told me about this site? Or I read it only either your Chappysmom blog or your Punctuality Rules! blog.
Your contest is a good reminder to update the blog links on there, so I’ll make sure to add this to it! And I already pimped you on Ravelry in Language Lovers! I really hope this venture does well for you. (And I still think it would be cool to somehow do a bi-coastal knitting review podcast together, somehow.)
maria´s last blog post..Happy Halloween!
Heyo! I found my way here through your very own post on Ravelry. I thought I’d drop on by. And now I’m glad I did… v. nice site :).
I didn’t mention which books are the prizes because I haven’t decided which ones to part with yet. Giving up books is very, very hard for me! (Hence the reason that I have over 3,000 of them in my personal collection–obviously not all knitting books, though.) When it comes time to draw the winners, I’ll look hard at the review copies I’ve already reviewed and will pick out the ones I can bear to part with–but I won’t know until then which ones they’ll be! All I can really promise is that I’ll try to do the drawing on a day when I’m feeling generous (grin).
In the meantime, though, you can get an idea by seeing which reviewed books were Review copies (it says at the end of the review if it is). If so, they’re possibilities!
Read your ravelry post :)
I have subscribed via RSS feed since I first heard of you!
(I’m teabird on Ravelry – and a knitter!)
melanie´s last blog post..tagged!
How did I not know about your site? This is exactly the information I need before I buy any more knitting books. Thanks for posting the link in Ravelry’s Needlework on the Net board.
Don’t have a blog or website…I found you because of the entry you posted on Ravelry.
I’m off to explore your site.

Great site, I sadly do not have a blog…yet. I put you in my favorites though.
I saw this link on the Knitting Books group on Ravelry. Nice site! I’d love to see a review of Knitting Lace in Estonia, and meta-reviews that compare different books–“which EZ book is best,” or “should I buy Montse Stanley or the VK book?” for example.
orata´s last blog post..Halloween weekend fun (and major fiber stash enhancement!)

I found you on Ravelry over the weekend and came via the RSS feed, to which I am subscribed. I’m enjoying the reviews hugely – I’m not a big knitting book buyer, but only because I like to read reviews first! I think your blog might be my downfall (but in a good way).

I found out about your site from your post on the Ravelry forums. I like that it’s well-organized and there aren’t a lot of pictures on the main page – it’s less important right now, but when I’m at home I have limited monthly bandwidth and it can be really annoying to have to load a lot of pictures I’ve already seen whenever I visit a blog (so your setup is ideal for me).
Here via Ravelry!

i found your site on wiknit when someone posted on my blog about finding my contest there. who knew websites like that (and this) even existed? the world of knitting has opened up new connections for me i never thought possible and to have a site that reviews knitting books is a great resource cuz you never really know what will be in a book unless you first have it front of you. nice to have a first base reference to go to!

I promptly added you to my Google Reader and am now adding a post on my blog about your contest.
Hopefully you can get more readers!
